Meet Dominic Mpepanduku

At 47, Dominic faced the challenge of a left below-knee amputation due to complications from diabetes, which he had been managing for several years. For the past 14 years, Dominic has worked as a dedicated petrol attendant at Basil Bure Convenience Centre (Engen). Known for his positivity and passion, Dominic was determined to return to work.

Thanks to the generosity of Maritzburg Orthopaedic Centre, we were able to provide wound care for Dominic, and after several months of treatment, he received his first prosthetic limb. Today, Dominic is living comfortably at home with his wife and children, and he has started his own shuttle service for kids. His mobility has transformed his life, allowing him to support his family through his new business. Dominic has also participated in our learnership program with Kindo Covers, where we equip people with disabilities with the skills they need to prepare for employment and succeed in specific work environments.
